Trainers, Barns and Riding Academies Children ages 5 to 17 are welcomed into the program regardless of their parents’ ability to pay for lessons. Fees for lessons, clinics and camps will vary from barn to barn, city to city. By agreeing to participate in Horses for Heroes, the barn owner and/or trainer consents to offer lessons (private, semi-private or group) at a price well below the cost of a beginner’s lesson. The barn owner and/or trainer who participates in the Horses for Heroes program will have and/or will obtain insurance and obtain the necessary signatures, waivers, etc. Horses for Heroes, Inc. will provide sample forms and other support information. It is suggested and recommended that “member barns” hold a play day or mini-camp as an orientation session. Lessons, private, semi-private or group can be arranged from those who attend a session and expressed sufficient interest in taking lessons. Sponsors may underwrite the costs of these camps. Horse for Heroes, through affiliations with high school organizations, 4-H clubs and local breed association youth groups, will train volunteers for this program, who under your guidance and supervision, can help with barn chores, getting horses ready for lessons, clean up, etc. Members pay $20 for an annual membership. They will receive a Directory of barns, trainers, and riding academies who have agreed to give them a discount. As a trainer, you will receive a membership package with a directory, t-shirts, and membership cards. We have arranged for discounts at local tack and feed stores and western wear retailers.
